Lighting in today's buildings is largely designed in two parallel tracks and with a lack of coordination between professionals. The result is that the positive impact of daylight on humans and energy savings is therefore lost.
At the same time, today's development of knowledge and technology in the field of lighting provide the potential for lighting design to coordinate daylight and electric lighting as an integral part of the building design process.
This requires increased communication between the various competencies of the professionals, as well as an increased exchange of knowledge between research and practice. The project aims to develop new methods for light from a design perspective. It combines practice-oriented research with architectural history, lighting theory and lighting technology.
The project develops language and tools so that a creative dialogue between competencies can arise. In a well-functioning lighting design process in buildings, daylight and electric light
