This project aims to demonstrate the technical feasibility and economic benefits of aggregating small-scale hydropower to offer ancillary services and unlock its flexibility properties.
The project offers a customer solution consisting of hardware and software to increase resource efficiency in small-scale hydropower plants while enabling a new revenue stream.
The small-scale hydropower plants in the project are aggregated in a Virtual Power Plant, which in turn provides the available power at the power plants to Svenska kraftnät's ancillary services markets.
This is estimated to be able to increase profitability by 20% for power plant owners at the same time as more flexibility in the energy system is utilized, which facilitates the implementation of more variable electricity production and thus accelerates energy transition.
