Most water in a household is consumed in the shower, and the shower water is also heated. If you purify and recycle the water, both water and energy can be saved. A shower session of 10 minutes with a flow of 12 l / min where the water is heated from 10C to 40C can save up to 108 l (90% of the water) and 3.2 kWh (80% of the energy) per shower.
Orbital Systems has developed a shower, Orbital Shower, that recirculates the water while showering, without having to sacrifice shower comfort. This shower is only intended for installation in new buildings.
The project we are applying for support in VER2021 is Orbital Retrofit, a shower that can be installed in existing bathrooms, at a reasonable cost, without breaking the existing waterproofing layer. Focus is on the installation system, even if the recirculating shower is part of the total solution. Our ambition is to develop Orbital Retrofit from TRL4 to at least TRL8 and verify the solution together with customer.
