Future hydrogen and power demand along the Swedish coastline " aims to develop an interactive mapping tool to facilitate planning for the electrification of national shipping in Sweden.

The idea for the project stems from an increasing demand from industry, where both individual shipowners and ports, lack the tools to answer the questions of what a shift to battery and hydrogen operation would mean.

The idea is that the tool is operated as an open platform where the user easily can visualize fuel needs (hydrogen or electricity), bunkering opportunities and routs for different vessel types and visualize hydrogen projects and distribution possibilities.

This makes the map service a powerful tool also for community planning, something that has been requested by the relevant authorities. The tool has been inspired by a Norwegian model launched in 2020.

Overall, the goal is to create a systemic overview of how hydrogen and electricity could be used for coastal shipping in Sweden.
