Grant Description

In this project we are aiming to validate and improve Cellfion's bio-based technology with potential customers and partners, where we will optimise and adapt forrest based ion-selective membrane to a specific application area to improve the energy efficiency of energy storage devices called Redox Flow Batteries and to replace current toxic based materials with sustainable bio-based materials.

During the project we will focus on one key application area for the nano cellulose membranes optimisation and external testing, Redox Flow batteries, a form of large-scale energy storage which can be used to support the electrical grid, which are used for a water splitting process called electrolysis for the production of green hydrogen.

The effect of this project will bring us one step closer to further financing and in the end reaching the market, which could have huge positive effects for the limiting of greenhouse gas-emissions and reaching the European net-zero goal for 2050.
