Climate neutral Järfälla 2030

Järfälla aims to be one of the leading municipalities in Swedish when it comes to environmental- and climate engagement. The ongoing major urban development project in Järfälla creates thousands of new homes, workplaces and new opportunities to make smart, sustainable choices for a climate-neutral city. However, it is also challenging in terms of complex systems, collaboration with stakeholders and engagement from citizens.

Järfälla's carbon dioxide budget states that the municipality must reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases from transports and construction work by 10-15% per year. To reach our goals, we need to improve our knowledge on smart mobility, resource management, climate neutral constructions and citizen engagement.

In this project, we examine how sustainable mobility, effective resource use, digitalization and and community planning can contribute to climate neutrality in Järfälla as well as future urban development projects.
