This feasibility study develops a prototype for a decision-making tool that will allow hauliers and transport buyers support in choosing the right fuel technology to become fossil-free in a transport- and cost-efficient way. The tool is developed by identifying, categorising and evaluating critical key factors for such choices.
The feasibility study is limited to the analysis of fuel technologies that involve electrification of the transport sector (i.e. fuel cells, battery operation, and electric roads).
The prototype of the tool developed will be validated in this feasibility study on a smaller scale on Södra Cell's transport flows.
An important part of the validation is to measure the transport efficiency impact of fuel technology choices such as load capacity, driving efficiency and route selection for heavy road freight transports.
The results of the study constitute input values for a future full-scale project and are important for both private and public decision-makers.
