Innovation for equal and sustainable commuting

In order to facilitate change in mobility patterns, increase the usage of public transport and reduce transportation’s impact on the climate, we want to increase our knowledge of how norms, identity and underlying context shape our choice of mobility.

By studying transport to and frrom work in a specific industrial estate with a workforce dominated by male employees in Umeå, Sweden, we can identify concrete details in relation to perspectives such as gender och need in order to map them to the transport system. The insights can then be used to design local interventions.

The project is judged to have a strong connection to the call's main purpose of contributing to a transport-efficient society that is accessible, equal and resource-efficient.
