From forest residues to sustainable aviation fuels (RE-SAF)

Building on the previous Energy Agency financed project ‘Från flis to flygplan i Småland’, the broad consortium consisting of Växjö Energi (VEAB), Södra, RISE, KLM, SkyNRG and 2030-Sekretariatet joins forces to continue the preparation for development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production in the Växjö region, with an estimated production volume of 16 kt/year, integrated with existing biobased energy production.

The project contributes to the necessary decarbonisation of the aviation sector by drawing on the potential to utilise forest sector residues to produce sustainable aviation fuel in the Växjö region by 2026.

The overall project objective is to provide a solid foundation for a go/no-go decision towards a FEED phase by in close cooperation collecting the necessary information and build the knowledge needed to go ahead with the project, including by among others making a pre-engineering study and develop a business plan with a long term view for the whole value chain.
