The Project aims to develop a coating that decreases the friction between snow, ice and the cover glass of the modules and allows the snow to slide by itself. Several coating technologies will be explored, manufactured, and tested in the lab and in outdoor experiments.
A functional snow and ice repellent coating can decrease maintenance requirements and fault frequency in snowy parts of the world.
Also, the energy yield is maximised by eliminating snow-shading losses, which leads to smaller environmental footprint and better economic conditions for the PV field.
