Climate Neutral Mariestad 2030

Mariestad municipality has, in recent years, taken several serious steps towards climate transition.

Already in 2015 an important stepstone was achieved when a political majority, in conjunction with local industry, decided to work towards the Paris agreements and Agenda 2030.

An innovative and unique initiative followed and the Electrivillage hydrogen project is now the core driver for our proposal for Climate-neutral Mariestad 2030, with an expected launch at COP26 .

To involve citizens is key for Mariestad municipalilty, and the current project develops in collaboration with local actors, aiming towards a citizen-driven climate contract process.

A variety of co-creation processes will involve citizens and local actors in urban design interventions to support social sustainability through recruiting under-represented groups and through norm-critical design. The project will engage citizens in sharing-platforms and provide updates relating to climate gools.
