Kalmar is one of Sweden's fastest growing residential cities - and also a distinctly rural municipality. It is a combination that provides challenges but also many opportunities. There is a strong political will for sustainable growth. We made progress but much remains to be done.
The project application describes a new framework for our local climate work that will help to accelerate the transition and create conditions for climate neutrality by 2030. A clear local framework including vision, goals and challenges makes it possible to mobilize actors from different sectors who can contribute to concrete initiatives in the following areas: Energy production; Mobility; Circular society; Construction and built environment; Global footprint; Blue and green structures and compensation.
The work in each area is focused on: Identifying actors and common goals; Identify initiatives / innovations; Ensure organization and financing; Test and scale up concrete efforts; Share experiences.
