Innovative procurement process for increased textile recycling

The challenge for the Project is to formulate requirements in the procurement of hospital textiles that enable materials with the right quality and design to be recycled. The project goal is to use Region Uppsala's textiles as a pilot, go from theory to practice.

The pilot study will lead to an increase in the proportion of recyclable textiles by tests and evaluations at Södra Cell providing the conditions for the requirements that the project find in textiles. The requirements provide procurement documents that drive recycling.

Elis, which delivers textiles to more regions, has a digital control system RFID to study if it can be developed to ensure the right quality. Södra Cell needs access to end-of-life textiles in large volumes for their innovative recycling process.
