Climate neutral Karlstad 2030

The municipality of Karlstad has the goal of being fossil-free and climate-smart and is one of the few municipalities that includes both geographical and consumption-based emissions in this ambition. Climate work must permeate the entire municipality and it must be easy to make climate-smart choices.

The project is further based on an ambitious environmental work. Climate-neutral Karlstad 2030 is shifting these efforts up and reinforces Karlstad as a role model.

The challenge areas of sustainable mobility and circular consumption are in focus within 1) governance and financing, 2) mobilisation and co-creation, 3) innovation and service development, 4) behaviors and communication. The project brings together a broad constellation of actors with clear responsibilities.

Climate-neutral Karlstad aims i.a. to achieve the effect target that greenhouse gas emissions in Karlstad in 2025 will be less than 1.7 TPY/person and turn the climate challenge into opportunities for a better life for all
