Pilot study of potentially circular, environmentally friendly, hydrogen peroxide explosive (HPE), for use in the Swedish extractive industries (surface blasting, quarrying), presently representing 8 % (2019) of Sweden’s carbon footprint and 2 % (2014) of the energy consumption.
The objective is to reduce energy consumption and climate impact by 75 % or more, compared to current ammonium nitrate explosive (ANE).
Basic research on HPE has been performed, the concept has CE approval, enabling it (TRL 8) for industrial full-scale tests in a real environment.
The project comprise manufacture, testing and relative evaluation of HPE to ANE, in surface blasting/quarrying, with industrial partners, aiming to facilitate a technological leap towards better resource management, reduced energy consumption and climate footprint for the entire extractive industry.
The project results are intended for extensive dissemination through seminars, directed communication, reports, websites and social media.
