The project investigates the use of second homes with cultural values and what the effects renovation and energy efficiency have on the Swedish energy system, on building material flows, and on theon cultural values ofth at second home buildings represent.
This is done through identification of different types of Swedish second homes, how they are used, their energy use and completed and planned renovation measures. The goal is to synthesize existing knowledge and develop a method for a broad mapping in a next step.
The method is based on reporting information from owners through a survey that is developed and tested for a number of types of second homes and user profiles. The aim is also to identify appropriate energy efficiency measures adapted for different types of second homes.
For each measure, the energy efficiency potential, climate impact and possible moisture risk and impact on cultural values are estimated. The results can be used by authorities to design policy instruments.
