The Varvsstaden project in Malmö is transforming Kockum's industrial area into a new mixed district.
The conservation value is great for the area, with cultural-historical values ??both in the site, the buildings and the materials. An important parameter is the windows, which strongly contribute to the identity of the place and the buildings. To achieve good indoor comfort in the renovated buildings, an upgrade of the windows is necessary.
This project analyzes the previously renovated building in the same area, Magasin 211, and the solutions used there to upgrade the existing windows; constructions, possibility of reuse, energy efficiency, functionality, safety, etc. Analysis is also performed of the indoor climate in the finished building and daylight.
The goal is to, based on the experience from the completed window renovation, develop an optimal solution for careful renovation of historically valuable windows that enables optimal indoor comfort, both in general and for Varvsstaden.
