To technically realize circular business models and remanufacturing, additive manufacturing is identified as a key enabling technology. The downside of remanufacturing is the small scale and the need for manual work. To overcome these downsides the project proposes a digital twin based platform for remanufacturing based on additive manufacturing that allow for more automation. The project will develop a total concept for efficient and effective remanufacturing including:
• A novel method for efficient and accurate simulation, reducing calculation time 50-100 times. • A novel method for robust fixturing, reducing geometrical variation with 25-50%. • A digital thread for remanufacturing based on additive manufacturing
The method will be implemented in an existing simulation platform, and exposed to the industrial partners in Wingquist Laboratory (AB Volvo, GKN Aerospace, IKEA, Volvo Cars, Sandvik Coromant, Saab Aerospace and Scania) and other commercial users of RD&T and IPS software globally.
