This project will develop and test solutions in practice to help create an industry-wide circular system for packaging for home delivery, where the packaging in which the customer receives the goods can also be sent back to the supplier for reuse. This will reduce resource use and be a step towards achieving the objectives of the Paris Agreement, as well as the EU Circular Action Plan.
The grocery trade itself sees major challenges in current linear systems and we believe that there are great opportunities and benefits in creating an industry-wide B2C system for circular packaging. The industry has previously managed to agree on a now well-functioning B2B system for circular transport boxes operated by the industry-owned company SRS (Svenska ReturSystem).
Creating, or further developing, a more consumer-friendly system for B2C/C2B deliveries is what we see as the next step in moving away from a linear management of packaging towards creating a completely circular system.
