The role of Lighting on the creation of Emotional Architecture / PhD

The reserach will treat and contribute to solving the understanding of planning, design and evaluation of physical environments that have been labelled as Emotional Architecture (Goeritz 1954), to determine light´s potential through a phenomenological approach and promote human wellbeing & health on a post-pandemic use of spaces.

The project will use diverse proven research methods used on architecture & lighting theories in connection with technology. The aim is to understand quantitative & qualitative impact of lighting (natural & artificial) on how spaces perform and are perceived. It integrates neuroarchitecture as a method of research to map and comprehend the impact that lighting has in users in relation to the built environment for the benefit of mental and physical wellbeing.

The achieved effects at completeness is a comprehensive lighting design tool for the emotional wellbeing, energy saving, use of current technology, integration of equality and sustainability (UN SDG
