To achieve the climate goals the number of travels by cars need to decrease.
Attractive and sustainable public transport is an important way in achieving this, and autonomous shuttles can contribute. A research project in Linköping exists where three autonomous shuttles operate as a research platform.
Experiences from the operation of the shuttles show that weather has a significant impact on the range, and thereby the availability, of the vehicles.
This research project will, based on measurement data from the operation of the vehicles, create a range estimation model.
This model, in combination with models for the battery aging, vehicle availability, and impact on the electric grid during charging, be used in the design of smart scheduling algorithms for the charging of the vehicles in the fleet.
The results will be demonstrated and evaluated on the vehicles in the platform to show the potential of a smart charging algorithm. The analysis of a larger fleet will also be conducted.
