Both electrification and transport efficiency are important for a sustainable achievement of the transport sector's climate goals. However, there is limited knowledge about how electric car adoption affects travel behavior.
The aim of the project is to increase knowledge about how travel behavior changes for individuals with electric cars, both car use and the use of other means of transport. The knowledge is acquired by analysing detailed data on travel habits collected by the project over several months.
Insights of travel behavior are necessary for design of policy instruments that contribute to a transport efficient society, e.g. planning of public transport and other mobility services, charging infrastructure and capacity needs, design of congestion taxes, and dimensioning of batteries in electric cars.
Travel data is supplemented with interviews and the insights are synthesized in an analysis of e.g. travel behavior and policy effects at national and local levels.
