To achieve higher energy efficiency for passenger trips, previous research has pointed out that it is central to succeed in the transfer from passenger car to public transport.
The result of this project is a number of identified measures and places where it is effective to reduce energy use for today's passenger transport. In the project, we develop methods for estimating traffic work and energy use for today's journeys by car to public transport. This is done with the help of input data in the form of most data sources such as mobile network data, ticket data and sensor data from the road network as well as an energy model.
The estimation provides fundamentally new opportunities to observe travel behavior and energy use between different geographical areas with private and public transport over time. With the help of the estimate, we develop scenarios for where and how adjustments in the transport system should be made to reduce energy use in the most efficient way possible.
