The project contributes to modal shift of goods from road to sea and more energy-efficient and green transport through the development of competitive green shipping. There is a great need for broader knowledge of how modal shift can be achieved. Despite several initiatives from both authorities and industry, the share of shipping is not increasing.
To strengthen competitiveness versus road new knowledge about business models, behaviours and green technology are important pieces of the puzzle.
The purpose is to contribute to the development of competitive green shipping transport through a better understanding of business models, behaviours, green technology and the interaction between these. The project is conducted by SSPA, the University of Gothenburg and SKAW Shipping & Transport.
Based on Swedish and European case studies, application in different segments (bulk, RoRo, container) and geographical areas (domestic, intra-European) are compared in close collaboration with industry.
