The aim with the project is to investigate the energy interplay between heating, cooling and the use of electricity in a housing area with a large share of PV produced electricity and a low temperature district heating system. There will be a grocery store, a school and a retirement home within the area as well. The housing area will act as an energy community towards the power distribution network and the planned housing area Näringen in Gävle will be used as a reference.
To increase the system efficiency, the return flow from the common district heating system will be used as the primary heating source in the district heating system for the housing area. This increase the possibilities for electricity production in CHP-plants and to recover heat in flue gases.
The project will investigate the synergy effects with a low temperature district heating system and the use of electricity to secure the temperature levels in the domestic hot water system and to produce comfort cooling.
