The LPMat2 project focuses on a new generation crossflow heat-exchanger based on TPMS geometries. It will be an enable to harvesting heat and increasing the energy efficiency in industry and buildings.
This project aims at generating knowledge on how to design and engineer a crossflow heat-exchanger with exceptional heat-transfer properties and low pressure drop.
We will create a geometry enabling efficient heat-transfer in situations where temperature gradients are low and maximize heat-recovery. This is a collaboration between KTH, Hitachi Energy, and Swegon. It combines high-fidelity simulations and experiments. Firstly, we will design a two fluid exchanger based on TPMS with appropriate manifolds.
This design will be tested and optimized virtually using simulations providing knowledge on the performances and key parameters for design.
Secondly, the candidate geometry will be designed and created using additive manufacturing for testing at the industrial partner sites.
