Future establishments on Gotland will impact its energy system.
Current plans include several wind and solar farms, as well as industries that could be prospective sources of excess heat.
This infers the opportunity to develop an efficient and flexible heating sector on the island, which coupled with other sectors could contribute to the release of valuable bio resources currently used for heating.
This project aims to develop scenarios for the heating sector on Gotland, by modelling and evaluating the development in the sector and its couplings with the industry and electricity sectors. Availability and location of potential waste heat sources will be considered.
The synergies and conflicts of the different scenarios will furthermore be analyzed from a broad sustainability perspective. Work on collaborative aspects of waste heat is featured through analysis of risks and opportunities.
