Ecopack 2 is the next step in the research of heat pump systems with small charges of a natural refrigerant, R600a.
The energy is collected from warm wells such as low temperature district heating and a low temperature lift will secure temperatures for hot tap water and heating of houses.
Focus of the project is to develop methods to measure and control, that in contrast to conventional methods, can deal with the high flow of refrigerant as these systems have relative to the low charge of refrigerant and consider the thermal connection as the internal heat exchanger presents between the hot and cold side of the system.
In previous stage impressive results where attained.
With 120 grams of refrigerant between 2 and 12 kW of heat could be delivered and a COP of 3,3 and 11 was reached depending on operating condition.
The aim of Ecopack 2 is to be able to deal with real operating conditions with dynamic processes and to develop necessary method to measure and control the system.
