The power systems’ central role in society increases with digitalization and electrification. In addition to the need for new generation, there is a lack of transfer capacity. This lead to uneven electricity prices and limited abilities to cope with society’s needs.
System Integrity Protection Schemes (SIPS) aim to provide reliable and secure capacity increase of existing grid assets. Thus contributing to an evening of electricity prices.
The project is a collaboration between RISE, KTH and LTH, with a reference group representing Nordic grid owners and technology suppliers. This provides the recipients a link to the project, and channels for transferring knowledge and competence. A well-established power system simulator will be used for interaction with the grid owners, as part of dissemination and enabling utilization.
The projects contributions, to increased knowledge of SIPS, supports an agile and sustainable development of the Swedish grid and the Nordic power system.
