Grant Description

Tebrito takes residual streams from the food industry and / or pulp industry and uses these as feed in mealworm production. The production produces two products, mealworm (protein) and frass, larval shell remains and droppings. Frass is a product rich in biostimulants such as chitin.

Protein from mealworms is similar to the protein from beef. If global beef production were to decrease by 1% in favor of mealworm protein, emissions of CO2 equivalents would decrease by 19,250,000 tonnes annually.

By 2030, 25% of all cultivation within the EU will be organic (EU Farm to Fork Strategy). Own market research confirms that today there is no effective, ecologically viable insecticide on the market. Tebrito has certified frass as an approved input for organic farming in Sweden and the EU. The ambition of this project is to verify the effect of the phrase on different crops.
