The electric grid will have an important role as renewable energy is increasing and with an electrification of industries and transport.
Electrification will increase the need for capacity in the grid, both locally and regionally, which can cause lack of grid capacity. This project will develop a reference network model of the Swedish low, medium and high voltage grid.
The model will be used to analyze: (i) where are the expected grid limitations geographically located when adding new loads; (ii) where can we place new loads, storage units, renewable energy to minimize reinforcements in the grid; and (iii) where geographically do we have the greatest value from storage.
The network model is unique since it does not require any sensitive information about today's electric grid and its geographical coverage (Sweden). A second goal is to use the model in additional projects. This is due to large interest amongst electricity network companies, vehicle manufacturers and Göteborg Stad.
