The project intends to develop a system solution for the generation of electricity from the kinetic energy of the water that has passed through the turbines of hydroelectric power plants.
A number of hydrokinetic mini-power plants are placed in a pattern that our AI-based measurement method has identified as the optimal line of interaction.
The method means that energy production from already established hydropower plants can be increased by about 10%, which means 7.1 TWh per year and 19.17 million kg of CO2 for Sweden alone.
The project builds on "AI in Depth – Exploration for Energy from Ocean Currents (52333-1) which confirmed exploration costs as an obstacle to the expansion of small-scale offshore power plants where currents are lower than 2.5 m/s.
The commercial power plants available on the market are not optimized for several turbines to be placed in the same area. To complete our system solution, a custom prototype of a hydrokinetic turbine is developed.
