Vehicle operation with fuel cells contributes to a major ongoing change in society at large, with a large element of hydrogen to meet society's climate challenges. In this project, polymeric membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) with an operating temperature of up to 120 °C will be studied. Operating at higher temperatures have clear advantages, such as the possibility of more efficient cooling and higher catalyst activity.
We will work with new membranes, electrodes and bipolar plates. The interaction of the components and the impact of operating parameters will be studied in small and large fuel cells. The integration of the fuel cell in the vehicle shall be investigated using system models.
Advances in this area will lead to cheaper and more robust fuel cell systems for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly electricity generation and propulsion of vehicles.
Competence development takes place through the training of 4 doctors and close collaboration between academia and industry.
