Positive Energy Districts (PED) are an important contribution to reach the goal of climate neutrality in the coming decades.
It is a great challenge to reconcile the different requirements of developers, planners, the city administration and other stakeholders. In addition, there are technical and social challenges due to increased energy production in the neighbourhood.
The DigitalTwins4PEDs project wants to develop a dialog tool and quality assurance process based on a digital twin energy model (DTEM) to ensure energy performance in the entire neighbourhood.
The DTEM will be tested in three pilot areas in three different countries with different conditions: Austria with a new area to be built; Turkey with an existing area; and Sweden with a residential area that will both be renovated and densified.
In this way, DTEM can be applied, and it is ensured that a positive energy balance is guaranteed throughout the process.
