Real time ecofeedback, i.e. to receive information directly and continuously about what we consume, can reduce electricity or water consumption by up to 50%, according to international research.
In the past two years, Hjo municipality has analysed their current performance on sustainability goals and organised a citizen- and employee dialogue in order to define new sustainability goals.
In this project, the municipality of Hjo and the University of Skövde aim to: (1) select relevant indicators that show performance on some sustainability goals in real time; (2) technically realize data collection and appropriate visualization of the indicators so that citizens of Hjo and municipal employees receive ecofeedback in real time; (3) organize special activities to try to influence the indicators and (4) quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate to what extent and how real-time ecofeedback contributes to increased commitment to and actual success in the desired energy- and climate transition.
