Experimenting and demonstrating new sustainable energy solutions has so far been mostly limited to pilot projects focusing on specific technologies, organizational solutions or business models.
As the energy transition accelerates and matures, the focus needs to move from limited technological and social innovations to systemically integrated innovations and solutions including regulatory and institutional adaptations, a new eco-system of actors (new types of actors, business models, intermediary/coordinating functions) and governance instruments.
The aim of this project is to show how demonstrations of system change in cities can be designed and conceptualized, how their transformative potential can be assessed, and how they can cross-fertilize each other.
This will be done through a co-creation process for demonstrating sustainable heat transition in Lund and sustainable renovation of the building stock in Malmö. Madrid and Amsterdam will provide international cases in this process.
