The urban mobility challenge is to break the oil dependence and environmental impacts of automobile travel. This is possible by shift towards walking, cycling and public transport.
Transit is an American catchall for public transport and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) is an established urban design and development paradigm that aims to integrate transit infrastructure in neighborhoods and inspire increased walking and higher use of public transport.
This Sino-European project will develop a Transit-Oriented Development 2 (TOD2) framework advancing the old TOD design guidelines with perspectives on public spaces, new innovative solutions with shared mobility (mobility hubs) and information about carbon neutrality and implementation of decarbonisation measures in urban planning.
The project aims to contribute to achieving to carbon-neutrality and decrease the oil dependence in European and Chinese cities.
