The purpose of the project is to test WaveMove 1MW on a scale of 1:25 in a wave tank and in the sea to evaluate that the system meets the energy relevance from the previous project's marine analysis.
The company has customers who see great commercial interest in the previous project's energy relevance and want to see this confirmed in scale tests in a commercial wave tank. Furthermore, the project will measure wave height in front of and behind WaveMove to see reduction of the wave.
The wave tank tests are the next part of WaveMove's commercialization and a preparatory step before large-scale pilot tests.
Previous projects have shown that when an existing wind turbine is combined with WaveMove, production can be increased while the lowest production during the period Oct-Apr is increased.
The target is to create a stable electricity supply from combined wind and wave energy to account for a large part of Europe's electricity supply of affordable, stable and renewable energy.
