The place to live in Sweden: The importance of urban design for a resource efficient every day life

Energy crisis, climate crisis and economic crisis mean that households and planners must make more conscious sustainable choices.

The web platform Bostadsläget (bostadslaget.com) makes it possible for citizens to find neighborhoods throughout Sweden that have the qualities they demand - where they want to live.

At the same time, they can see their everyday energy use, energy costs, climate impact, housing and transport costs – where they can live. The balance between qualities and costs in different city districts is visualized. Bostadsläget enables planners to analyze neighborhoods and new housing projects.

The platform calculates the everyday energy use, energy costs, CO2-emissions, housing prices and transport costs for new plans and offers comparisons with other neighbourhoods. Bostadsläget exists 2023 in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Uppsala, and with this project will become nationwide.
