Grant Description

The overall purpose of this research project is to enable cement, construction, and mining industries to more sustainably use resources including raw materials and existing infrastructures to contribute to sustainable economy.

The project objective is to develop a modified clinkering technology that is based on an extensive usage of alternative raw materials to achieve the carbon neutral production goal.

The alternative raw materials will include industrial wastes, side streams as well as selected natural resources, that have not yet been used in the production of Portland cement. The clinkering process will be optimized for these mixes of materials.

The project will also include a limited study of concretes based on the produced cements to assess their durability and identify possible risks and limitations.

The project will be performed at the Luleå University of Technology but in cooperation with several industrial partners.
