Electric vehicles (EVs) can play an important role in the event of a failure in the electricity grid. However, the existing studies do not fully recognize potentials of EVs, especially neglecting their mobility.
This project proposes an Electric Vehicle based ‘virtual’ Electricity Network (EVEN) solution, considering EV smart charging, Vehicle2Grid, and Vehicle2Home.
It makes use of EV mobility and distributed renewable sources to form a ‘virtual’ electricity network and deliver electricity to locations with critical infrastructure in a crisis. This project will develop an energy management system and business models for the EVEN solution.
It will produce knowledge to help improve the resilience and security of electricity supply in a cost-effective and resource-efficient way.
