Grant Description

SågFlex will provide sawmills and suppliers with knowledge on how they can contribute together towards the flexible power systems of the future.

SågFlex is needed to lower the threshold for sawmills to offer flexibility services in the grid, which is a relatively new and complex topic.

The project will show how sawmills can use electricity storage technologies, flexibility services and advanced digitalisation to enable improved production planning and thereby reduce their electric power costs. SågFlex will give sawmills open access to models developed in the project for technology selection and sizing.

Sawmills will also gain a deeper understanding of how different choices affect their production and profitability.

Results from the project will be regularly presented to the sawmill industry through the Swedish Wood Technology Forum (STTF).

The methods and models that are developed in the project will be able to be developed further and adapted for other industry sectors.
