The total energy consumption and range are expected to be improved by optimizing with a smart allocation and active reconfigurable strategy for various actuators such as electric machine, friction brakes, active suspensions and axle installations, with knowledge of the ground ahead and surroundings.
This project aims to develop optimization algorithms for actuator coordination and configuration strategies for heavy-duty on-road vehicle applications, by developing an axle-level functional layer to support modular and configurable software implementation for the different product types. The project will result in:
a) requirements, b) shaft installation configurations and implementation strategies for actuators; c) actuator control strategy to balance energy efficiency, driving dynamics and total operating costs; d) scientific publications (of which a doctoral thesis) and important competence
