The project aims to develop an high performance electric drive system for high duty-cycle efficiency with its main components using sustainable materials for electrified drill rigs.
It contributes to FFI Nollutsläpp by developing fossil-free electrified vehicles, thereby reducing the climate and environmental impact.
The project will help accumulate know-hows in industry and academia on design and optimization of electric systems and components for electrified heavy equipment and mining machines. Different functions will be realized by an electric driveline replacing the internal combustion engine.
The expected performance of the drive system includes higher system efficiency, lower costs, sustainable material uses, and higher system reliability. The innovative powertrain technology will be verified with both simulations and full-scaled experiments. The project is conducted by Chalmers University of Technology AB (coordinator) and Epiroc Rock Drills AB.
