Forest industry creates employment throughout the country and provides renewable raw materials and energy. The forest industry plays a key role in the transition to a sustainable, bio-based society. In the forest-based value chain, however, work in the forest is a major challenge to achieve zero emissions.
Harvesting trees requires large forces, but far from electricity grids and other energy infrastructure.
Future forest machines will be electric, but it is unclear in which form energy is best transported to workplaces in the forest. This project answers this question, by investigating different energy carrier options.
This is done in a collaboration between a world-leading forest machine manufacturer, forest companies and researchers to provide a general pathway for a disruptive technology development and zero emission forest value chains.
