Grant Description

Fibre reinforced polymers (FRP) in transport and construction industry has increased exponentially in recent years.

To improve the resource efficiency and circularity of the complex End-of-Life (EoL) materials, efficient material recycling is necessary.

Our previous research has resulted in verification of the material recycling concept, pyrolysis of EoL materials combined with recovering in new FRP, such as Sheet Moulding Composites (SMC). However, some obstacles remain to improve the potential of the concept.

This project aims to further improve the recovery and upgrading of the pyrolysis products, handle relevant contaminations and improve the utilization in FRP to enable an efficient material recycling.

The project consortium has a good composition with partners from the institute, manufacturing companies and recyclers as well as end users and have the possibility to contribute to a commercialisation of the process which will lead to an improved circularity and resource efficiency.
