The project is a continuation of a previous collaboration project which has as its core idea that a modular converter is integrated with the battery, which has positive impacts on several properties in the energy flow from electric grid, converter, battery, converter to motor.
Overall, efficiency is increased by making the power electronics more efficient and provides a battery system that is both more controllable and more efficient through reduced total losses in converter, battery, and motor. The technology that is being developed also has the potential to provide battery systems that have increased lifespan.
The improved system efficiency results in better operating economy, and the increased lifespan means that the investments can be used longer, which reduces the total cost and resource consumption for the same transport missions. The project contributes to a societally efficient and long-term sustainable transport supply for society and business.
