Grant Description

The aim of this project is to develop a design of a high-resolution neutron spectrometer (HRNS) for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) for the development of fossil-free energy based on nuclear fusion reactions.

The HRNS provides crucial information about how efficiently the fuel is used in a fusion reactor, thus contributing to the effort of producing electricity from fusion power during the second half of this century.

The proposed project is part of an activity launched by the ITER organization, with the ultimate goal of constructing and installing the HRNS at the ITER facility.

The applicants have a contract with ITER that covers 50% of the costs for this project and this application seeks to finance the remaining part.

The project involves a substantial collaboration between academia and industry and will improve the conditions for Swedish industry to participate in the development of current and future nuclear fusion energy projects.
