Autonomous electric drones are starting to be used for transportation of light goods and for carrying sensors like cameras.
By adding autonomous charging stations, a national sustainable transportation system can be created that can reach from anywhere to everywhere.
Such a system has a broad spectrum of uses and adds to the national capacity building with two main groups of use cases: disaster relief and monitoring, including providing mobile coverage; and transportation of light goods in rural areas. Logistics contributes significantly to the emissions of greenhouse gases in Europe.
In Sweden, most of the emissions from road transport comes from rural areas, notably deliveries of light goods.
The number of persons and parcels is low per square kilometer and the areas to be covered large, meaning trucks and cars often run with few or a single packet. The environmental impact is high, the economy terrible, and the availability of transport services dwindling.
