Windows are resource-intensive in new manufacturing and complex to reuse as many functional requirements must be met. This project focuses on creating conditions for the renovation and reuse of windows through a clear inventory and quality assessment process. The project consists of three main parts:
1. Inventory and quality assessment: Ten different windows are inventoried and assessed for quality before they are dismantled. 2. Laboratory testing: Windows are tested in the laboratory to verify inventory and the properties of the windows.
3. Life cycle analysis: Data from inventory and laboratory testing are used to assess the resource and climate impact of reused windows compared to new ones.
The project aims to reduce resource consumption and energy consumption through increased use of renovated and reused windows. The results are compiled and communicated in a guide with toolkit that will support property owners, consultants, and construction contractors
